Big game between Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen

The trip to Villa Park in the Champions League will be tricky, but the biggest game over the next three weeks is against Bayer Leverkusen on September 28. Bayern will host the defending Champions on matchday five of the Bundesliga.

Bayer Leverkusen have done well against Bayern in the last 12 months. They were unbeaten against Die Roten the previous season, scoring a late equalizer at Allianz Arena and clinching a thumping 3-0 win at Bay Arena. Leverkusen went the entire season unbeaten to win the Bundesliga title, while Bayern finished third in the points table.

Bayern can lay down the marker in the Bundesliga by delivering a good performance against Bayer Leverkusen early this season. It will be a nice early tactical test for Vincent Kompany. The Bavarian club cannot afford to lose this game since it will again build the narrative that they are not ready to challenge for the Bundesliga title.

Bayer Leverkusen have already suffered defeat this season RB Leipzig clinched a 3-2 win at Bay Arena on matchday two. They are certainly more vulnerable than last season. It is going to be a fascinating game to watch since it will show how the two teams have adapted to changes over the summer.
