Three things Vincent Kompany needs to do at Bayern Munich for successful season
Make the team defensively miser
Bayern consistently leaked cheap goals last season. The defensive organization often led the team down. The attacking players usually bailed out the team by scoring several goals, but it couldn’t help them mask the defensive issues enough to win trophies.
Kompany needs to make a Bayern difficult team to break down for the opposition by instilling compactness in the team's system. The onus doesn’t lie only on the back four. The counter-pressing from the front will help Die Roten to dominate teams and concede fewer goals.
Along with improving the team’s defensive shape, Kompany should help improve the defensive players on the squad. The Belgian coach needs to bring confidence back in players like Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano, as they had a rough second half of last season. Die Roten has irresistible attacking players at their disposal. However, they need to improve defensively to bring the glory back to Allianz Arena.
