Three center-backs Bayern Munich can sign to replace Matthijs de Ligt

Bayern are interested in signing Désiré Doué from Rennes to strengthen their attack. The French forward will take up 90% of funds raised from the sales of De Ligt and Mazraoui. In such a scenario, Die Roten may have to look at the free agent market to sign a center-back.

Mario Hermoso can be a short-term option for Bayern this summer to replace De Ligt. He is a left-footed center-back who is available as a free agent after leaving Atletico Madrid in June. Hermoso is an aggressive defender, but he is prone to making mistakes while stepping out of the defense.

The Spaniard’s strength lies on the ball. He is very good in tight spaces and can help the team smoothly play out from the back. Hermoso can also slot in the left-back position if needed. Real Madrid may come up with a late offer for Davies. With funds tight at Bayern for the rest of the window, Hermoso can also become a left-back option if Davies leaves late in the transfer window.

Hermoso is far from the best center-back option in the market, but Bayern can use him as a stopgap on a one-year deal with an option for an additional year.
