Bayern Munich have finally managed to thrash out a deal for a big departure this summer. The Bavarian club agreed a fee with Manchester United on Saturday for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. The former Ajax defenders will complete their exits from Bayern Munich early next week.
The Bavarian club doesn’t need a replacement for Noussair Mazraoui since Josip Stanisic is part of the squad for next season after a productive loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen. However, they certainly need to replace De Ligt since they currently have only three fit center-backs in the squad.
Die Roten have already signed Hiroki Ito from VfB Stuttgart. The Japanese defender has broken his foot during pre-season, ruling him out for several weeks. With Bayern competing on all fronts, they need another center-back signing before the end of the transfer window.
Bayern have identified Jonathan Tah as a replacement for De Ligt. However, Bayer Leverkusen had set a deadline to complete the transfer earlier this week. Tah remains keen on joining Die Roten, but it remains to be seen if Bayer Leverkusen will sanction a transfer.
Since the deadline to sign Tah has passed, let us look at other center-back options Bayern can look to sign in the next three weeks.
