Senior wingers repaying Vincent Kompany’s faith

Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry started against Holstein Kiel. Since both wingers were not involved with national teams during the international break, Kompany decided to hand them starts ahead of other wide players. Coman and Gnabry repaid Kompany’s faith by delivering good performances.

Gnabry worked relentlessly in the final third to disrupt Kiel’s build-up play. The German winger won the ball to set up Kane’s first goal. Ahead of the Champions League clash against Dinamo Zagreb, Gnabry was substituted at half-time. He ended up creating three chances and had four shots in 45 minutes.

Coman also played equally well on the left flank. The French winger provided the assist for Kane’s second goal. The 28-year-old forward also created three chances before making way for Mathys Tel in the 76th minute.

Gnabry and Coman were both on the list of departures at Bayern, but both were eager to stay in Munich. They have started the season well, justifying their decision to fight for a place at Bayern instead of looking for a transfer. Long may it continue, as Bayern will need all their forwards firing to go deep in all competitions. (All stats courtesy: Fotmob)
