Aleksandar Pavlovic set for start against Real Madrid

Bayern suffered an injury blow in the midfield department on Saturday. Konrad Laimer was substituted for Aleksandar Pavlovic midway through the first half. The Austrian midfielder twisted his ankle during the game. He didn’t train with the squad on Sunday and remains a doubt for Tuesday’s Champions League game.

The injury to Laimer opens up the possibility of Pavlovic starting on Tuesday. The young German midfielder has enjoyed a brilliant debut season for Bayern. He has shown great temperament whenever Tuchel has given him added responsibility in the center of the park.

Tuchel can move Joshua Kimmich in the midfield and play Mazraoui in the right-back position. However, these two moves will hurt the team in the game. Kimmich has been exceptional in the right-back position, while Mazraoui is doing a fine job on the left side of the defense.

The German coach has been brave when it comes to starting Pavlovic in big games this season. He delivered a midfield masterclass against Lazio in the second leg of the round of 16. On the back of Pavlovic’s performances in big games this season, he deserves to play in the center of the park if Laimer fails to recover from the ankle injury.
