Kim Min-jae endures torrid European night

It was an evening to forget for Kim Min-jae. The lack of game time over the last couple of months has certainly affected his rhythm on the pitch. The South Korean Monster was partially responsible for the first goal conceded and completely culpable for the second after his poor tackle resulted in a penalty.

For the first goal sympathizers towards Kim may point to Konrad Laimer not pushing up on Toni Kroos or Manuel Neuer hesitating off his line, but in reality, the South Korean defender failed to read the situation and pressed up when he shouldn’t have. Concerning the penalty conceded to Real Madrid, Kim didn’t need to tackle so indiscreetly as Eric Dier was covering for him.

Kim Min-jae picked the wrong time to have such a bad day. Matthijs de Ligt was sorely missed. The Dutch defender will start in the second leg once he is declared fit enough to do so. The South Korean defender will look to bounce back from this harsh experience against VfB Stuttgart on Saturday.
