Leon Goretzka may have to reconsider options in the summer

Konrad Laimer did a fine job in the center of the park against Real Madrid on Wednesday, while Pavlovic looked unfazed by the occasion. The 19-year-old midfielder replaced Leon Goretzka in central midfield for the crunch away game in the Champions League semi-final.

Goretzka would be devastated to miss out on a place in the starting XI on Wednesday. He has been in fine form during the last two months, which included strong performances against Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals. However, Pavlovic still pipped him for the place in the lineup for the biggest game of the season.

Laimer looks likely to stay at Bayern in the summer, while Pavlovic is part of the club’s long-term plans. Moreover, Die Roten are also interested in signing a new midfielder in the summer. In such a scenario, Goretzka will struggle to get adequate playing time next season.

The German international remains determined to stay in Bavaria, but the current circumstances suggest that looking for a transfer in the summer could be the best option for him. Juventus are reportedly interested in him, while Manchester United and West Ham United have shown interest in the past. Bayern may not stand in his way if he decides to look for a new adventure since it is the right time to cash in.
