On the back of a much-needed victory over RB Leipzig, can Bayern Munich continue to gain momentum as they visit SC Freiburg on matchday 24 of the Bundesliga?

SC Freiburg

Christian Streich and SC Freiburg welcome the Bavarians to the Stade Europa-Park on Friday for what they hope is a match that can get the home side back in the hunt for a European place. While Freiburg were able to see off Lens last week to qualify for the last 16 of the Europa League, their Bundesliga form continues to take a hit. The 2-1 defeat away to Augsburg on Sunday seemed close, but the game was anything but close. Augsburg dominated the game and hardly gave Freiburg a sniff. Streich will be hoping to claim something from Bayern on Friday as they are currently ninth in the points table.

While the young German goalkeeper Noah Atubolu is highly rated, he is still learning and it shows with some of his errors thus far this season. Nevertheless, Freiburg will continue to stick with the 21-year old. Lukas Kubler was substituted at half-time against Augsburg, so I do not expect him to start Friday in the right-back position. Kiliann Sildillia should start in Kubler's place with club captain Christian Gunter starting on the left. Centrally, Matthias Ginter and Manuel Gulde will play in the heart of the defense.

Maximilian Eggestein and the young Merlin Rohl should start as the two defensive midfielders. Lucas Holer should start in front of the two defensive midfielders and play behind the striker.

Look for Vincenzo Grifo and the Japanese international Ritsu Doan to start opposite each other on the wings. Both will have to work hard defensively and make the most of opportunities in the final third. Michael Gregoritsch is expected to start in the number nine position.

Score Prediction

SC Freiburg 1-3 Bayern Munich (Kane; Muller; Tel)

Bayern finally ended a rough stretch of results by claiming all three points against RB Leipzig. With Lazio visiting Allianz Arena in the Champions League next week, Bayern will hope to go into that game by getting a win away at Freiburg. I expected Harry Kane to continue his goalscoring form. by scoring one against Freiburg. It has been a while since Muller has scored so he is due a goal for Die Roten. Tel adds a late goal to seal the victory.
