RB: Konrad Laimer -Josip Stanišić's injury leaves Bayern light at right-back. It remains to be seen if Sacha Boey is ready to play from the start, while Joshua Kimmich is more likely to play in midfield. This could present midfielder Konrad Laimer with an opportunity to slot in at right-back.

CB: Kim Min-jae - The South Korean will hope for a strong sophomore season at Bayern Munich, and will have his sights set on cementing his spot in the starting XI.

CB: Dayot Upamecano - After all the speculation surrounding his future, Upamecano will stay at Bayern Munich and will hope to perform at the top level on a consistent basis this season.

LB: Raphael Guerreiro - If pre-season is an indication, Guerreiro will start at left-back ahead of Alphonso Davies. The Portuguese international's link-up play and ability to pick out passes will be crucial against Wolfsburg.

DM: Aleksandar Pavlović - The highly rated Pavlović could find himself in the starting XI, especially if João Palhinha isn't ready to play from the start just yet.

CM: Joshua Kimmich - After months of speculation about his future, Kimmich is now expected to spearhead Bayern Munich's midfield this season. The Germany international might be needed at right-back on Sunday, but Kompany definitely prefers him in the middle of the park.
