Michael Olise stars in another convincing 5-0 win for Vincent Kompany and Bayern Munich
By Tom Vinall
Bayern Munich traveled to Werder Bremen for matchday four of the 24/25 Bundesliga season. The hosts were on an unbeaten run of eight games, dating back to mid-April.
For this game, Vincent Kompany went with a lineup of: Ulreich - Laimer, Upamecano, Kim, Davies - Kimmich, Pavlovic - Olise, Musiala, Coman - Kane. Note: Neuer was in the original XI, but felt some slight discomfort in the warm-up, so no risks were taken with his fitness.
To begin with, Bayern had to be patient, having a lot of possession as Bremen stayed stubborn in their low block. However, mid-way through the first-half, Kane slipped Olise through on goal and the Frenchman kept his composure to slot home and make it 1-0 to Bayern.
Just nine minutes later, Bayern had two. Olise picked the ball up inside the box, and showed incredible agility and balance to weave himself through three or four challenges before squaring the ball to Musiala to convert into an open goal. An incredible assist from an incredible player.
The sides went into the break with Bayern two to the good, and they continued into the second-half with three goals in an eight-minute period, just after Gnabry and Guerreiro had been introduced for Coman and Laimer.
Firstly, twelve minutes into the second-half, Kane played Olise through in the box, but rather than going for goal himself, he had the composure to turn and lay the ball off for Kane who fired into the bottom corner to make it 3-0.
Just three minutes later and Olise had two goals to go with his two assists. Gnabry made a run with the ball in the box - he was challenged for the ball successfully but the ball fell to Olise, who curled the ball with his left foot into the top corner to make it 4-0.
Finally, on 65 minutes - Kane found Gnabry out wide, who cut inside, before firing a shot into the far bottom corner to continue his good form to start the season.
After 70 minutes, Sané replaced Olise and Palhina replaced Pavlovic, and five minutes later Müller replaced Kane. The Gnabry goal after 65 minutes was to be the final goal of the game but the damage was already more than done, and Bayern saw the game out well to keep a welcome clean sheet. Their hosts did not have a single shot all game.
