Max Eberl has had his say on Bayern Munich's attempts to keep Thomas Tuchel at the club, which ultimately proved to be successful.
Thomas Tuchel announced on Friday that he would not be staying at Bayern Munich despite talks between the two parties to cancel the separation agreement that was announced in February. The decision came as a shock, as reports had claimed earlier this week that Tuchel was increasingly likely to stay on as Bayern head coach beyond the end of the season.
Max Eberl commented on the failure to reach an agreement with Tuchel ahead of Bayern's final Bundesliga game of the season on Saturday. The Bayern Munich board member for sport insisted that there were multiple factors that prevented them from reaching an agreement.
"We talked a lot together. The discussions were open and very transparent. But a decision was made and the topic is now over. It wasn’t just one point. It was a complex situation and there were multiple factors," Eberl told Sky Sport.
Bayern Munich are now back to square one, having already been rejected by the likes of Xabi Alonso, Julian Naglesmann, and Ralf Rangnick. And it still remains to be seen who will be in the Bayern dugout next season. Despite the frustrating search for a new head coach, Eberl is confident that they will be able to find a good solution.
"The person who is most dissatisfied with the way things are going is me. I have to take a good look at myself. I've only been here for ten weeks, but it feels like ten years. But we will find a very good solution."
