Manuel Neuer has said that he will make a decision on whether or not to retire from the Germany national team after the conclusion of the European Championship.

It has been reported in recent weeks that Manuel Neuer could look to retire from Germany duty after this summer’s European Championship on home soil. But the 38 year old is not thinking about his national team future just yet, and will consider his plans after the tournament ends. "I can't reveal that yet. I'll think about it after the tournament,” Neuer said during his pre-match press conference.

Manuel Neuer not fazed by errors

Neuer has been ever-present for Germany over the years, and this is the 2014 World Cup winner's eighth major tournament for his country. The goalkeeper has come under a bit of scrutiny in recent months after a number of high-profile errors. But he is not interested in taking any part in the discourse, and is only focused on Euro 2024 at the moment.

"I haven't read anything about it. I've always done things by analyzing and discussing everything with the people in charge. That's why I haven't given much thought to this debate. What's important is the relationship of trust between coaches, players and me. The focus for me was on the first game against Scotland and the upcoming matches."

Germany made a dream start to their Euro 2024 campaign last week, claiming a stunning 5-1 win over Scotland. A much tougher test could await Manuel Neuer and co. on Wednesday as they go up against Hungary on matchday two. A win over Hungary would secure Germany’s place in the round of 16.
