Bayern Munich had ruled out more signings on deadline day after Bayer Leverkusen rejected their approach to sign Jonathan Tah on Thursday. The Bavarian club was keen on Tah throughout the summer, but Bayer Leverkusen didn’t want to lose Tah late in the transfer window. Bayern chief Max Eberl told media on Friday that there will be no new arrivals on the deadline day.

However, Bayern were open to completing one departure on the deadline day. Kingsley Coman was subject to significant interest from several clubs in the last 48 hours. Liverpool and Arsenal were offered the opportunity to sign Coman, while Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia had made a concrete bid for the French international. The Saudi Arabian club had tabled a bid worth €40 million for Coman.

The 28-year-old winger was open to leaving Bayern this week, but there has been a change of heart for him. According to Florian Plettenberg and Fabrizio Romano, Coman has decided to stay at Bayern despite interest from several clubs.

Coman’s decision to stay is a financial blow for Bayern since they wanted to trim the wage bill by selling him before the end of the transfer window. The French winger is one of the big earners in the squad. Since the squad was well equipped in the wide positions, Bayern were ready to sell Coman without signing a replacement.

Coman will get adequate playing time at Bayern

Despite the Bavarian club’s willingness to sell Coman this summer, the French winger is not expected to spend the season in the stands. Coman will be part of the squad for the entire season and get adequate playing time under Vincent Kompany. He has been part of the matchday squads during the first two competitive games of the season.

Coman endured a difficult 2023/24 season due to several injuries. He can be an asset to Bayern this season if he remains fit for the majority of the campaign. Coman has improved over the last four years in terms of productivity in the final third. The French international also has a knack for scoring goals in big games, which will be beneficial for Vincent Kompany.

Die Roten wanted to make wholesale changes to the squad this summer. However, several players, including Coman, decided to stay in Munich, which made it difficult for them to make more than three signings. The next stage of the squad rebuild will take place next summer.
