Journalist gives update on likelihood of Bayern Munich players staying or leaving
By Tom Vinall
Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg has delivered his verdict on the likelihood of several Bayern players staying or leaving the club this summer.
Regarding Noussair Mazraoui: Things will go quickly when Aaron Wan-Bissaka joins West Ham. Likelihood of leaving is 90%.
Re Matthijs De Ligt: All parties want the move to go through, but United still haven’t offered the €50m that Bayern want. Likelihood of leaving is 70%.
Re Kingsley Coman: Bayern are still determined to sell him due to high wages, he is injury prone, and no longer a starter - but no takers. Likelihood of leaving is 60%.
Re Bryan Zaragova: The market is being explored for him. He could still leave on loan in the case of an interesting offer. Likelihood of leaving is 40%.
Re Serge Gnabry: Bayern want to sell him, but he doesn’t want to leave. Likelihood of leaving is 30%.
Re Leon Goretzka: Max Eberl told him and his agent that a move would make sense for him, and that the club would like to sell him. But Gotetzka currently wants to stay. Likelihood of leaving is 30%.
Re Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies: The clear tendency is that both will enter the final year of their contracts. Likelihood of leaving for either is 20%.
Re Leroy Sane: There are no thoughts of leaving the club {from the player or the club's side} the current tendency is that he will stay.
Uli Hoeneß said a couple of weeks ago that there would be no incomings unless Bayern sell players first. Max Eberl also confirmed this was how they had seen things internally. Eberl pointed to the fact Bayern had made three first-team signings already (Olise, Palhinha, Ito), as well as Stanisic now being at the club to emphasise their reasoning for waiting on departures.
Bayern find themselves in a tricky situation when players like Coman, Goretzka and Gnabry are happy to stick around despite not being wanted at the club.
Goretzka and Gnabry have contracts until 2026, whilst Coman's contract runs until 2027. As we already knew, Bayern must sell players in order to bring in new signings.
