The domestic campaigns came to an end across Europe over the weekend. Bayern Munich ended their season a week ago with a defeat away at Hoffenheim. It has been a disappointing season for Die Roten as they didn’t win a single trophy. Despite a difficult season for Bayern, Harry Kane came up with one of the best individual campaigns for a striker in the Bundesliga.

Kane was officially confirmed as the winner of the European Golden Boot this weekend. The English forward scored 36 goals in 32 Bundesliga appearances. He was the top scorer in Europe’s top five leagues by a considerable margin. VfB Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy finished second in the list with 28 league goals.

Bayern broke their transfer record by buying Kane from Tottenham Hotspur last summer. After failing to fill the void left by Robert Lewandowski in 2022, Die Roten identified Kane as the top target to lead the attack. After a tedious transfer saga, Kane arrived in Munich after the club’s pre-season tour.

Despite not getting adequate pre-season match practice, Kane hit the ground running for Bayern. He was on track to break Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in one single Bundesliga campaign. However, a back injury didn’t allow Kane to come closer to this milestone. He missed the last two league games of the season.

Along with scoring goals, Kane’s linkup play in the final third benefited other forwards at Bayern. Leroy Sane formed a sensational partnership with Kane during the first half of the season. The English forward dropped deep occasionally and found the runs of wide forwards with precise passes.
The 30-year-old striker ended up with eight assists in the Bundesliga.

On the personal front, Kane will be satisfied with how his season has gone at Bayern. However, the English striker is desperate to win silverware. He couldn’t win a trophy during his time at Spurs. A move to Bayern was an ideal step for Kane to break the trophy duck. However, the Bavarian club failed in all three competitions this season.

Kane will heavily feature in Vincent Kompany’s plans at Bayern. The Belgian coach has agreed to a three-year contract with Bayern, and the Bavarian club has agreed a fee with Burnley. Kompany is aware of Kane’s qualities as the duo played against each other in the Premier League.

The English forward will be better next season after spending one season in the Bundesliga. He is the favourite to win the European Golden Boot award next season. Kane would prefer collective achievements at Bayern to accompany his accolades in the next 12 months.
