Bayern Munich have been working hard on departures in the past couple of weeks to make space for new signings. The Bavarian club has managed to sort out the future of Bryan Zaragoza, but it will be a temporary exit for the Spanish winger.

Zaragoza completed a season-long loan move to Osasuna on Friday. The Spanish club doesn’t have an option to buy after paying a loan fee of€250k. It is a meager loan fee, but Osasuna will cover the entire salary of the Spanish winger.

Bayern spoke to Zaragoza in the last few days to convince him about going out on loan for one season. The club hierarchy believed Zaragoza needed regular game time next season, which he would struggle to get in Munich. Valencia were the front-runner to sign Zaragoza, while there was concrete interest from Girona. However, Osasuna managed to beat competition from Spanish rivals to seal the signing.

The Bavarian club will hope Zaragoza to play regularly next season and return to Munich after a productive campaign.

Does Zaragoza have a future at Bayern Munich?

Since Bayern didn’t include an option or obligation to buy in the loan deal with Osasuna, Zaragoza has slim chances of being part of the German club’s long-term future. Christoph Freund, Bayern’s sporting director, insisted that Zaragoza is hoping to excel during the loan spell and eventually become an important player for the Bavarian club in the future.

Zaragoza struggled to make an impact after joining Bayern in January. The new league and language slowed down Zaragoza’s integration. Thomas Tuchel admitted that the Spanish winger will need time to get used to the club. Zaragoza played seven games during Ruckrunde last season, accumulating gametime of 171 minutes. The 22-year-old winger worked hard on his fitness during the summer and looked determined to fight for a place in Bayern’s starting XI next season. However, the presence of several wingers forced club chiefs to send him out on loan.

In an ideal scenario, Zaragoza would have benefitted by staying in the Bundesliga. The Bavarian club hopes playing in Spain again will help him to rebuild confidence and get back to his best.

Zaragoza will have significant competition in Munich when he returns next summer. Bayern have strengthened their attack by signing Michael Olise this summer. They are also in talks with Rennes for Désiré Doué.
