Bayern Munich working on early transfer for Bryan Zaragoza
The last couple of games have been brutal for Bayern Munich in terms of injuries to first-team players. The biggest blow for Die Roten came against Augsburg when Kingsley Coman was substituted in the first half due to a knee injury. The French winger is expected to be out for three months due to this injury.
Coman has been a first-choice option for Thomas Tuchel in the attack. The French winger’s absence for the next three months will certainly impact Tuchel’s plans for the rest of the season. With Serge Gnabry also on the sidelines due to injury, Bayern have very few options in the wide areas of the attack.
The Bavarian club is now working on finding a solution for Coman’s absence. According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern are looking to bring Bryan Zaragoza from Granada this month instead of summer. The Bavarian club has already agreed a deal with Granada for summer transfer.
Zaragoza completed his transfer to Munich at the start of January, but he wanted to stay at Granada to help them stay in La Liga. While talking to the media on Wednesday, Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund also confirmed talks with Granada to pre-pone the transfer of Zaragoza to fill in for Coman.
The Spanish winger is keen on staying at Granada until the end of the season. He was grateful for Bayern’s decision to keep him at Granada. It will be a challenge for Bayern to complete the transfer by the end of the deadline day on Thursday. Granada has very little time to replace Zaragoza.
Apart from Zaragoza, Bayern are not currently looking at any other transfers to strengthen the attack. If a move for the Spaniard doesn’t go through, Tuchel will have to rely on the options he currently has in the squad.
In the absence of Coman, Mathys Tel will get more opportunities. The 18-year-old forward has been chipping in with goals and assists from the bench this season. Tel can play on the left flank, so it is the perfect time to give him more game time.
Apart from Tel, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Jamal Musiala, and Thomas Muller are the other options in the wide areas for Bayern. Serge Gnabry will return to the squad at the end of February, so Tuchel has to be creative with his tactics and utilize the strengths of other forwards to compensate for Coman’s absence.
