There was a big development at Bayern Munich this week after suffering three consecutive defeats. Bayern have decided to part ways with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season. The German coach’s contract was initially expiring in 2025, but Bayern have decided to start next season with a new coach.

Tuchel’s days in Bavaria were numbered after suffering defeat against VfL Bochum on Sunday. Die Roten are on course to end the campaign without a trophy after a decade. It is not entirely Tuchel’s fault, but the buck stops at the manager.

Bayern chiefs reportedly believe that players are equally responsible for the ongoing problems on the pitch. According to AZ, the departure of Thomas Tuchel is not going to end the uncertainty over the future of star players in the squad.

The form of players like Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich will be monitored before deciding on their future in the summer. Kimmich has less than 18 months left on his contract. There has been significant speculation around Kimmich’s future in Bavaria, while Goretzka has been linked with a move away from Die Roten on several occasions in the last 12 months.

Apart from the German midfield duo, the futures of Serge Gnabry and Alphonso Davies at Die Roten are also uncertain. Gnabry has struggled with injuries and form this season. The German winger could be on the list of departures if Rekordmeister decide to strengthen their attack in the summer.

Meanwhile, Davies has been far from his best this season, and there is significant interest in him from Real Madrid. The contract negotiations with Davies have been complex. Bayern will be open to listening offers for Davies in the summer if they don’t agree terms for a new deal. The Canadian full-back's current deal comes to an end in 2025.

Matthijs de Ligt also faces an uncertain future at Bayern. The Dutch defender has not featured regularly under Tuchel this season. If the new coach doesn’t consider him a key member of the defense, then De Ligt may look for a transfer in the summer.

It is going to be an intriguing summer at Bayern. Along with several changes to the squad, they also have to get a coach who will fit into their long-term vision. The club chiefs will have to show more patience with the coach if they are going to make so many changes to the squad in one transfer window.
