Bayern Munich have largely enjoyed good performances from wide players this season. Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sane have been in fine form for Bayern, while Mathys Tel has delivered from left flank whenever he has come off the bench. Serge Gnabry is the only wide player who has struggled for Die Roten this season.

The German winger is yet to score in the Bundesliga this season. He has struggled with several different injuries in the past six months, which has given him no time to build rhythm on the pitch. Gnabry is currently on the sidelines due to a muscle injury that he suffered at the start of December.

According to Kicker (via iMiaSanMia), Serge Gnabry has a point to prove with his performances when he recovers from the muscle injury. The German international’s future in Munich is far from certain since the club chiefs are going to keep a close eye on his performances before making a decision in the summer.

Moreover, Bayern have already strengthened the wide positions by signing Bryan Zaragoza from Granada. The Spanish winger will arrive in Munich at the end of the season. Zaragoza’s arrival will put a significant spotlight on Gnabry’s future since his position will become vulnerable in the squad.

Thomas Tuchel rates Gnabry highly, so he will definitely get a decent amount of playing time during Ruckrunde. Gnabry also scored crucial goals during the last two months of the 2022/23 campaign, which effectively helped Tuchel to clinch the Bundesliga title. The German winger will hope to make a similar impact during the second half of the current campaign.

As things stand, Serge Gnabry is expected to return in full training at the start of February. The German international will hope that there are no more injury concerns this season, which will allow him to get an ample amount of game time under his belt.

Bayern are reportedly planning to make tough decisions in the summer as they look to rebuild the squad. Gnabry needs to deliver in the second half of the season if he wants to avoid becoming one of the key departures from the squad in the summer.

Meanwhile, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is expected to leave Bayern in the summer. The Cameroon international’s contract will expire at the end of the season. Die Roten has shown no appetite to extend his deal until now. Manchester United have shown interest in him this window, but talks are yet to take place between two clubs. As things stand, Choupo-Moting will leave Munich as a free agent in the summer.
