Bayern Munich's top performers from 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen
Aleksandar Pavlović
Aleksandar Pavlović wasn’t too far off the standards set by Kimmich for midfield excellence, but it was his misplaced back-pass that gave away the corner from which Leverkusen scored entirely against the run of play.
Whilst a lesser man may have taken some time to recover from such a costly error, there was to be none of that self-doubt from the 20-year-old German international. Pavlović visibly apologized for the error when he committed it. After falling behind, he was seen gesturing to his teammates to rally them on. Eight minutes later he further showed great character by scoring the equalizer with a dazzling long-range strike on the half-volley.
Apart from his regrettable errant back-pass, it was a man-of the-match performance from Pavlovic that fully justified his selection for the big occasion. Apart from the goal, he provided an excellent shield in front of the back-four. And more often than not, he beat the opposition to any loose balls. Pavlović is ready to shine on the biggest stage whether it be for club or country.
