Bayern Munich suffered a massive setback in their transfer plans over the weekend. The Bavarian club was cautiously optimistic about signing Désiré Doué from Rennes. However, the French winger chose Paris Saint-Germain over Bayern as his next destination. It was a big blow for Die Roten since Doué was their top target to strengthen the attack.

The record Bundesliga champions are mulling over other options in the market, but there is no sense of panic. Missing out on Doué will not affect Bayern’s plans for Kingsley Coman. According to Bild, Die Roten remain open to selling or loaning Coman in the next three weeks of the transfer window.

Coman is one of the big earners in the squad. The French winger’s departure will allow Bayern to trim their wage bill. They have struggled to get permanent offers for Coman, forcing them to field loan inquiries. Paris Saint-Germain were interested in Coman, but they have landed their top target to strengthen the attack.

Barcelona weighing up move for Coman

Barcelona have emerged as a potential destination for Coman. According to Fabrizio Romano, Coman is one of the names on Barcelona’s list to strengthen the attack. The Spanish club is unlikely to sign their top target Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao.

Bayern are unlikely to get a transfer fee from Barcelona for Coman. The Spanish giants are struggling financially, making it difficult for them to sign several players in one transfer window. They have already committed a big financial outlay this summer by signing Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig. Barcelona may look to get Coman on a loan deal in the final days of the transfer window. Die Roten should look to insert an obligation to buy.

Why Bayern will be fine losing Coman without a replacement?

Rekordmeister have already strengthened the attack this summer by signing Michael Olise. They can think about going into the season by losing Coman without getting a replacement. Leroy Sane, Olise, and Serge Gnabry are quality options for the flanks. Moreover, Mathys Tel is expected to get more game time this season. Tel can feature regularly on the left side of the attacking quartet.

Apart from four genuine options in the wide areas, Thomas Muller and Jamal Musiala can operate in this position if needed. Die Roten cannot afford to buy for the sake of it after missing out on Doué. They can afford to wait and reassess the situation next summer when more options will be available in the transfer market.
