Bayern Munich will return to action this weekend after what felt like a lengthy international break. Thomas Tuchel is only at the helm until the end of the campaign so he will be keen to finish the season strongly, to improve his credentials next season. Of course, the Bavarian side do compete in the Champions League quarterfinal next month, with the hopes of progressing to the semifinal and even final.

A team that Bayern may meet in the final is Barcelona. The legendary side are not having a great season but they will never be written off in the Champions League. Firstly, though, Bayern must fend off Arsenal and then Manchester City OR Real Madrid.

Should Bayern Munich reach the final and face Barcelona, the fans will have their eyes on one player and one player only - Ronald Araujo. The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Die Roten and their interest is only starting to heat up.

Bayern Munich prepare record-breaking offer for Barcelona commander

According to a new report by Marca, Bayern Munich could be prepared to break their transfer record, which was only set last summer, to sign Ronald Araujo. It is thought that an informal offer of €100m has been spoken about, to test Barcelona's resolve. Should €100m be granted to sign Araujo, he would become the most expensive Bayern Munich signing, just tipping Harry Kane, who cost €95m.

The Uruguayan centre-back is under contract at Barcelona until the 2026 summer. Therefore, the Catalan side are in no immediate rush to sell him. However, with such a big fee suggested, it could be an offer too good to refuse.

After all, Barcelona's financial situation is well-documented. To avoid any potential penalty, they may feel the need to sell a profitable asset, Araujo being one of those, since he only cost Barcelona €4.7m in 2018.
