Bayern Munich players want Thomas Tuchel to stay
The search for a new head coach has been a tedious process for Bayern Munich. They have faced rejections from their top three options, while the fourth option, Oliver Glasner, will not leave Crystal Palace this summer. The idea of bringing Hansi Flick back to Bavaria is also fading.
In such a scenario, Bayern may have no other viable option than to do a U-turn on Thomas Tuchel. According to Sky Sports in Germany and SportBild, several senior players at Bayern want Tuchel to stay at the club for next season. Die Roten are also giving serious thought to the option of sticking with Tuchel.
Meanwhile, the German coach is also reportedly open to staying in Munich. Tuchel had an option to extend his stay at Bayern until the end of next season. However, inconsistent results in the Bundesliga at the start of Ruckrunde forced the club chiefs to decide on his future. They decided to part ways with Tuchel at the end of the season.
Sky Sports also revealed that Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller have actively campaigned at the club to keep Tuchel at Bayern. Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala, Harry Kane, and Eric Dier also want Die Roten to continue with Tuchel.
Bayern’s CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen had ruled out the possibility of sticking with Tuchel for another season. The German coach has also hinted at no change in the agreement despite the Bavarian club's consistent failures in their search for a new head coach. The German reports on Monday suggested that Tuchel is open to staying in Munich.
The former Chelsea manager is dissatisfied with his time at Bayern due to a lack of trophies. Under the right conditions, Tuchel will jump on the chance to challenge on all fronts with Die Roten next season. With the Bundesliga coming to an end next weekend, Bayern have to make a decision on the head coach to start working on transfers.
Tuchel has been working with the squad for the last 18 months. He is well-placed to help Bayern to undergo the squad overhaul in the summer. The last two months have strengthened Tuchel's case of extending his stay at Bayern Munich. The quality performances in the Champions League also show that players are ready to fight for Tuchel on the pitch. With no credible option in the market, sticking with Tuchel for one more season is the most feasible solution for Die Roten’s shambolic search for a new coach.
