Two Bayern Munich players went head to head at Euro 2024 on Monday evening, with Dayot Upamecano coming out on top against Konrad Laimer.

Euro 2024 has gotten off to a blistering start, and Bayern Munich players have already made a big impact at the tournament with Jamal Musiala setting the tone for Germany in their impressive 5-1 win over Scotland.

Contenders France went up against Ralf Rangnick’s in-form Austria in Group D on Monday, and an own goal from Borussia Mönchengladbach's Maximilian Wöber ended up deciding the contest.

There wasn’t much to separate the two sides over the course of the 90 minutes, with 2018 World Cup winners France managing to find a way to claim the three points against an impressive Austria side.

Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano started in defense for France, while Konrad Laimer played in Austria’s front four.

Kingsley Coman was an unused substitute. In a blow to France, star forward Kylian Mbappe broke his nose during the game. The Real Madrid star will likely have to play the rest of the tournament with the help of a protective mask.

The 1-0 win saw France join the Netherlands on three points in Group D, with Austria and Poland yet to open their account. Matchday two of the group stage will see Austria take on Poland, while France will go up against the Netherlands in a mouth-watering contest.

Germany, meanwhile, are continuing their preparations for their matchday two contest against Hungary. Five Bayern Munich players could be in action in Wednesday's Group A clash.
