Bayern Munich succumbed to Real Madrid in the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League, with a late brace from Joselu proving to be the difference between the two sides.

There was Champions League heartbreak for Bayern Munich as they fell to a 1-2 defeat (3-4 on aggregate) at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday evening. A horrendous mistake from Manuel Neuer proved to be decisive in the end, as Real Madrid pulled off an incredible late comeback to qualify for the final, where they will face Borussia Dortmund.

Thomas Tuchel prepared the perfect match-plan for an away Champions League tie. And Bayern Munich appeared to be on course for victory when Alphonso Davies opened the scoring in the 68th minute. But Joselu took advantage of Neuer's mistake to equalise in the 88th minute, before completing the turnaround three minutes later.

The defeat will be hard to digest for Bayern Munich, as they were the better side for the majority of the tie. But they must now come to terms with the fact that this will be their first trophyless season in more than a decade.

Here are our player ratings for the Bayern Munich players from their 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid.

Manuel Neuer (6/10)

Neuer had such a good game and made some excellent saves before dropping the ball in sloppy fashion and gifting Real Madrid a way back into the tie. As has so often been the case over the years, the Spanish giants never looked back after that.
