Joshua Kimmich - 7/10

Joshua Kimmich was the source of most good things that Bayern pulled off against Villa. His piercing long balls into the opposition box were a constant threat for the home team. Apart from accurate long passes, he was perfect in his usual midfield tempo dictation activities as well. One major criticism, however, remains his set pieces. Bayern had 11 corners, most of which were awfully taken by Kimmich.

Dayot Upamecano - 7/10

Just like his center-back partner, Dayot Upamecano for the most part did very well in holding the risky high line. The first-half yellow card, however, (reminiscent of the many big game blunders he has committed in the past) brings down his rating.

João Palhinha - 7/10

The Portuguese midfielder looked motivated after coming on. Won the ball multiple times in advantageous positions. It will be interesting to see if Konpany finally trusts him as a starter in the upcoming games.

Leroy Sané - 6.5/10

Introduced in the 66th minute for Michael Olise, he looked sharp on the right wing but failed to make a major impact.

Aleksandar Pavlovic - 6.5/10

Pavlovic didn’t have the best start but he slowly grew into the game. Aside from some tidy diagonal switches to Gnabry, he didn’t have many moments that were of big influence in the game.

Harry Kane - 6/10

Harry Kane had an uncharacteristic quiet performance. In his defense, there wasn’t much service from which he could benefit from either. As usual, the striker often dropped back and had some good link-up play moments, but overall it wasn’t much to trouble Aston Villa.

Michael Olise - 6/10

Olise played as an attacking midfielder for the second time at Bayern with his first appearance in this role coming against Freiburg on matchday two of the Bundesliga. Other than a nicely struck curling effort which was saved by Martinez, he didn’t really do much noteworthy in the final third. His defensive contribution was noteworthy.
