Bayern Munich not planning move for Tottenham Hotspur defender

Despite a German report linking Tottenham Hotspur defender to Bayern Munich, the Bavarian club has no plans to make a move for him in the summer.

It is going to be a busy summer transfer window for Bayern Munich. They have already parted ways with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Bouna Sarr as they left Bavaria after the end of their contracts. Bayern want to shake up the squad's composition after a trophyless season. Several senior players may leave Bavaria in the summer to make space for the new arrivals.

In terms of defense, Bayern will look to add a center-back to the squad. The left-back position will be strengthened if Alphonso Davies leaves Die Roten in the summer. The right-back position at Bayern is well-equipped, but Bild reported this week that Bayern are interested in Tottenham Hotspur right-back Emerson Palmer.

Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg has given further details about Bayern’s interest in Emerson. The Bavarian club explored a move for the Brazilian in January when they wanted to strengthen the right-back position. Since Bayern signed Sacha Boey from Galatasaray in January, Emerson is no longer a topic of discussion at the club.

Boey has endured a difficult start to life at Bayern. The French full-back has played just over 100 minutes since arriving in January. He has been out of action for a couple of months due to two different injuries. Boey is eager to bounce back next season and play regularly for Die Roten.

Apart from Boey, Noussair Mazraoui is the other natural right-back in Bayern’s squad. The Moroccan full-back has delivered good performances for Die Roten this season. He is expected to stay in Munich next season.

Joshua Kimmich and Konrad Laimer also played in the right-back position for Bayern this campaign. Kimmich played as a right-back during the last two months of the season when Mazraoui and Boey were injured. Laimer played in this position on a few occasions during the first half of the season.

Unless Mazraoui or Boey end up leaving Bayern in the summer, the likelihood of Emerson arriving in Bavaria is slim. The Brazilian defender will have other suitors across Europe after a good season with Tottenham Hotspur. The record Bundesliga Champions will focus on strengthening central defense, midfield, and attack when the transfer window opens in June.

Meanwhile, Bayern are close to sealing a deal for Vincent Kompany to replace Thomas Tuchel. They are discussing the compensation fee with Burnley after agreeing on personal terms with the Belgian coach. Die Roten will start working on transfers with Kompany once his move to Bavaria is sealed by the end of this week.
