Bayern Munich locate Everton star as Joao Palhinha transfer alternative
By Kian Long
Bayern Munich are currently at a crossroads with Joao Palhinha. It is obvious that the Bavarian side would like to sign the midfielder from Fulham this summer, as it isn't the first time they have attempted to bring him in. However, given Fulham's resilience to value him highly and Bayern not being willing to meet their valuation, the deal is at risk of falling through.
But not to panic, Bayern Munich fans. After all, there are plenty of transfer alternatives for Palhinha in the summer transfer window. It is just a case of Bayern Munich being prudent in the market and not rushing into any decisions and more importantly, not involving themselves in silly bidding wars, which only serve to hurt the winning club.
Bayern Munich locate Everton star as Joao Palhinha transfer alternative
According to a report from Florian Plettenberg (h/t iMiaSanMia on X, formerly Twitter), Bayern Munich have located the Everton midfielder Amadou Onana as a potential transfer alternative for Joao Palhinha, should the deal for the Portugal international fall through.
Amadou Onana, like Joao Palhinha, is currently representing his country at EURO 2024. Onana plays for Belgium, who kick off this evening in a tightly-contested group. Therefore, the fate of Belgium could be decided by their match against Ukraine, as every team in their group is on the same number of points so anything can happen at this stage.
So, Onana's interests at the moment will be pushing his side to victory and approaching the knockout stage of the competition. Only after will he consider his future in domestic football.
Onana will be flattered by the transfer interest from Bayern Munich. However, it is nothing the midfielder isn't used to already. After all, many top clubs in Europe including Barcelona and Arsenal have shown an interest in signing Onana from Everton, so the competition will be strong from Bayern's perspective.
Bayern Munich have proven to be big spenders in recent transfer windows. This could be why they are forced into considering Palhinha alternatives, because they simply do not have the necessary funds to meet Fulham's desire.
