Bayern Munich have been unlucky with injuries throughout the season. They have been without several key players during a difficult run of games. Thomas Tuchel has got things wrong tactically in games, but injury problems to key players have made things difficult for him at Bayern.

Kingsley Coman has been one of the key players for Tuchel this season. The French winger provides a cutting edge in the final third without compromising the defensive structure on the flank he is being used. The serious knee injury to Coman at the end of January certainly impacted the balance of Die Roten’s attack.

The Bavarian club feared Coman to be out for three months, but it does look like he is ahead of schedule in his recovery. According to Sky Sports correspondent Kerry Hau, Coman is targeting a return in March after starting individual training at Sabner Strasse.

The French winger had a knee ligament tear during the game against Augsburg. Coman was initially expected to return in April, but his positive recovery suggests that early return is possible. The French forward will hope that Die Roten are alive in the Bundesliga title race by the time he returns to action.

The early return from a serious knee injury also bodes well for Coman’s chances of playing in the Euros 2024 at the end of the season. He will not be fit for the international break in March. However, a run of games in April and May will make sure that the French winger is ready for the European championship.

Meanwhile, Serge Gnabry is close to making his return after more than two months. The German winger will not be part of the squad for Friday’s league game against Freiburg, but a return to the squad is possible for next week’s crucial Champions League game against Lazio.

Sacha Boey and Noussair Mazraoui are not expected to be fit for the Champions League game. Thomas Tuchel is expected to continue with Joshua Kimmich in the right-back position. The German midfielder played in the full-back position during last weekend’s pivotal 2-1 win against RB Leipzig.

Tuchel will hope to have all senior players fit for the final phase of the season. The German coach is looking to end his time in Munich with a trophy. The quest for the Bundesliga title is complicated since Bayer Leverkusen are eight points clear at the top. However, stranger things have happened in the Bundesliga during the last two months of the season. A fit squad will give Tuchel a better chance to make the most of Leverkusen’s potential slip-ups.
