The hope at Bayern Munich will be that Harry Kane can make the trip to England to face Aston Villa on Wednesday, but it remains to be seen if the striker will need a spell on the sidelines to fix the issue.
"Harry Kane took a painful knock to his ankle in Bayern’s Bundesliga game at home to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. Examinations by the club’s medical unit on Sunday determined a positive development. Kane will continue to receive appropriate treatment," a statement from Bayern Munich said on Sunday.
Kane has made a blistering start to the season and has ten goals and five assists to his name in seven appearances across all competitions. The England captain said after the game on Saturday that he expects to be able to play on Wednesday.
If Kane is unable to play from the start against Aston Villa, Vincent Kompany might go with a false nine or play Mathys Tel as the starting striker. Bayern Munich began their Champions League campaign with a 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb.
