The second round of group games has started well for Bayern Munich players at Euro 2024. The German players shone against Hungary to book a place in the round of 16. Harry Kane stepped up for England on Thursday to help his team take a big step toward the round of 16.

Kane opened the scoring for England against Denmark on Thursday. The English striker was at the right place at the right time when Kyle Walker’s deflected cross found its way to him in the middle of the box. Kane calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper.

The goal against Denmark took Kane’s tally to 13 goals in the last four big tournaments. No European player has scored more than Kane in the last four tournaments. Along with scoring the goal, Kane also created a chance for his teammate and completed 87% of his passes. England didn’t get the win against Denmark, but the point on Thursday can help them clinch a place in the next round. They remain unbeaten in the tournament, and a positive result against Slovenia next Wednesday will seal their top spot in Group C.

The goal against Denmark took Kane’s tally for the season (club and country) to 47. It has been the most prolific season of Kane’s career until now. It was not his best performance, but he still managed to score the decisive goal for England. Southgate and English fans will hope Kane can go on a scoring run after finding the back of the net on Thursday.

Elsewhere, Konrad Laimer will be in action for Austria against Poland on Friday. The 27-year-old midfielder is a pivotal player for Ralf Rangnick. Austria delivered a good performance despite losing their first group game against France. They need a victory on Friday to have a strong chance of finishing second in Group D.

Kingsley Coman and Dayot Upamecano will be in action for France against the Netherlands on Friday. Upamecano is the first-choice center-back for France. He is expected to start against the Dutch. Coman was an unused substitute against Austria. The French winger will hope to get game time on Friday to get into rhythm before the knockout games.
