Bayern Munich duo eager to join Manchester United
Bayern Munich are actively working on outgoings to make space for new players. The Bavarian club has signed three players this summer. Bayern want to add at least two more players to the squad but need sales to raise funds for the incomings.
Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt are top candidates for sales at Bayern this summer. The two former Ajax defenders have also accepted their fate in Munich as they push for a move to the Premier League.
According to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, Rafael Pimenta remains in talks with Manchester United for the transfers of De Ligt and Mazraoui. The two Bayern defenders have set their heart on a move to Old Trafford this summer. Manchester United continue to negotiate with Die Roten for both defenders.
Mazraoui was close to completing a move to West Ham United this week, but the move collapsed due to the Moroccan defender’s desire to join Manchester United. The Red Devils need to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka before completing a move for Mazraoui. Since West Ham had agreed a fee with Bayern (€15.5 million + €4 million add-ons), Manchester United know the fee to get the deal done.
The move for De Ligt is also not straightforward for Manchester United. The Old Trafford side has agreed personal terms with the Dutch defender. The Red Devils have a fixed price in mind for De Ligt (€44 million including add-ons), which is way below Bayern’s demands (€50 million plus add-ons). Moreover, Manchester United need to sell one center-back to make space for De Ligt. They have already completed a big money move for Lille’s Leny Yoro to strengthen central defense.
Bayern have different plans to replace De Ligt and Mazraoui
The record Bundesliga champions have different plans to replace De Ligt and Mazraoui. The Moroccan full-back will be internally replaced by Josip Stanisic. The Croatian defender will be part of Vincent Kompany’s plans after enjoying a productive loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen. Stanisic will regularly play in the right-back position for Die Roten next season.
Bayern want to replace Matthijs De Ligt with Bayer Leverkusen defender and captain Jonathan Tah. The Bavarian club made a second bid for the German defender this week. Tah’s arrival will complete the overhaul of the defensive department for this summer. The Bavarian club previously signed Hiroki Ito in June to add more depth and quality in central defense.
