Upamecano, who is currently away on international duty with France, was asked about the impact of Kompany at Bayern Munich during a press conference on Sunday. And the 25 year old said that he is very happy to have the Belgian as his head coach.
"I'm very happy he's at Bayern with us and I'm already learning a lot from him," Upamecano said. "He's a good coach who plays attractive football. He gives me a lot of advice because he played in my position for many years. As I said, I think I'm going to make a lot of progress with him."
Before he heads back to Bayern Munich, Upamecano will hope to help France get their UEFA Nations League campaign back on track after a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Italy on matchday one. The 2018 FIFA World Cup champions will go up against Belgium on Monday evening.
