Bayern Munich will strengthen the attack in the summer transfer window. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will leave Bayern in the summer as a free agent. The Bavarian club may look at a wide player to replace Choupo-Moting since Mathys Tel can play as a number nine.
It does look like Bayern will look at a Bundesliga forward to strengthen the wide position in the summer. According to SportBild (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern are showing concrete interest in signing Chris Fuhrich from VfB Stuttgart. The versatile German forward will not be expensive since he has a release clause worth €23.5 million in his contract that can be activated if Stuttgart qualify for the Champions League.
Die Roten will face stiff competition for Fuhrich since Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig have also shown interest in him. With Stuttgart well positioned to qualify for the Champions League, Fuhrich will be a shrewd signing for any of the top Bundesliga clubs in the summer.
Previously, SportBild had reported Die Roten’s interest in Fuhrich early in March. However, he was planned as an addition to the squad if Leroy Sane didn’t sign a new contract. The recent report suggests that Bayern are looking to sign Fuhrich irrespective of the contract situation of Sane.
Fuhrich has been in tremendous form for Stuttgart this season. He can play anywhere in the attack and drop in the midfield if necessary. The 26-year-old versatile forward has chipped in with seven goals and seven assists for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga this season. Considering his relatively cheap release clause, Fuhrich will add value to Bayern’s squad. (Stats courtesy: Whoscored)
Bayern are looking to make tough decisions in the summer. The Bavarian club remains keen on extending Sane’s contract, while the German winger wants to stay in Munich. He was in scintillating form during Hinrunde but has struggled to deliver consistently during the second half of the season. It will be interesting to see if Sane’s form in Ruckrunde will impact the contract talks.
Serge Gnabry is also facing an uncertain future at Bayern. The German forward has struggled for consistency in the last 18 months. Several injuries this season have not helped Gnabry’s cause. He has returned to action with two goals in two games before the international break, but there are question marks over his long-term future in Bavaria.
Kingsley Coman will stay in Munich beyond this season, while Bryan Zaragoza is going to be part of the squad next season after arriving in January. It will be intriguing to see where Fuhrich will fit in the squad next season since he would like an adequate amount of game time to leave Stuttgart.
