Bayern Munich have all bases covered in the goalkeeping department for the long-term future. The Bavarian club has successfully negotiated a contract renewal with Alexander Nubel. The German goalkeeper’s new deal at Bayern lasts until 2029.

Along with committing long-term future to Bayern, Nubel has also agreed to spend the next two seasons on loan at VfB Stuttgart. He joined Stuttgart on loan last summer. After a productive loan spell, Stuttgart was keen on keeping Nubel beyond the current campaign. Stuttgart got a terrific deal, as Nubel will continue to play for them until 2026.

Sky Sports in Germany has revealed further details about the loan deal with Stuttgart. Bayern can end Nubel’s loan deal next summer if Manuel Neuer decides against staying in Bavaria. Neuer’s contract at Bayern will expire at the end of next season.

Max Eberl and Christoph Freund have confirmed that the contract renewal of Nubel has made sure Bayern have stability in the goalkeeping department for several years. The Bavarian club will not spend money on a goalkeeper in the near future.

Bayern consider Nubel the ideal candidate to become Neuer’s long-term successor. After playing regularly at Monaco for two seasons, Nubel has taken his game to the next level this season at VfB Stuttgart. He has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga this season. Nubel has nine clean sheets in the Bundesliga with Stuttgart. Bayer Leverkusen’s Lukas Hradecky (13) is the only Bundesliga goalkeeper with more clean sheets than Nubel this season.

Nubel has consistently insisted that he will not stay at Bayern if there is no scope for him to become the number one goalkeeper. His contract renewal does suggest that Nubel will eventually replace Neuer. It is just a matter of time for Nubel to become the first-choice goalkeeper of Bayern.

Earlier this season, the record Bundesliga champions handed one-year contract extensions to Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich. They also have a promising young goalkeeper in Daniel Peretz. Bayern chiefs will hope Nubel and Peretz eventually replace Neuer and Ulreich in the senior squad by the start of the 2025/26 campaign.

After finishing negotiations with Nubel, Eberl and Freund will look to sort out a deal for the new coach by the end of April. They will also hold contract talks with Leroy Sane and Joshua Kimmich at the end of the season. Meanwhile, Bayern are also awaiting a final decision from Alphonso Davies on their latest contract offer.
