The last couple of weeks have seen Bayern Munich work aggressively on the contract renewals of the senior players in the squad. Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich signed new one-year deals to end uncertainty in the goalkeeping department of the squad. It does look like Thomas Muller is also going to follow the senior goalkeepers in signing a new deal.

According to SportBild’s Christian Falk, Bayern have agreed to a one-year contract extension with Thomas Muller. The German forward will stay at the club until the end of the 2024/25 campaign. Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sports in Germany have also confirmed the conclusion of negotiations between Muller and Bayern.

Thomas Tuchel had publicly expressed his desire to see Muller stay at the club beyond this season. The German forward wants to play at the top level until 2025, and no better place to do it than Bayern. The Bavarian club has swiftly sorted a new deal for Muller to avoid speculation ahead of the winter transfer window.

Thomas Muller is no longer the first-choice number ten at Bayern. Jamal Musiala has replaced him in this role after steadily developing into a quality player over the last three seasons. Muller has been often used from the bench by Tuchel this season.

Despite a reduced role in the team, Muller still has a lot to offer whenever the team needs him. He is a very smart player who can still come up with strong performances in big games. His solid performance against VfB Stuttgart on Sunday shows that he is a quality player to have in the squad.

Along with his qualities on the pitch, Thomas Muller is also part of the leadership group in the squad. He has won everything at Bayern over 15 years. Muller is the ideal role model for the younger players, so he has a significant role to play at Die Roten off the pitch and in the locker room.

Bayern chiefs are expected to make tough decisions in the summer. Having a senior player like Muller during the upheaval in the squad will make the transition somewhat smoother. His presence will help in imparting the MiaSanMia feeling in the new players.

It was a no-brainer to keep Thomas Muller for one more season at the club. This is likely to be his last contract with Die Roten. The Bavarian faithful will hope that Muller brings curtains down to his Bayern career during this contract period by winning the Champions League for the third time.
