Recently, Bayern Strikes revealed that Die Roten were interested in signing Antonio Silva of Benfica. However, it was unknown whether the release clause could be triggered by Bayern Munich, since Silva has a €100m relase clause in his current deal. Triggering this would mean that Bayern could skip straight to player negotiations but there's no denying it is a hefty fee to pay.

Still, Bayern Munich could activate this clause. According to a sensational report from Spanish outlet Sport, Bayern Munich are willing to pay the €100m release clause in Silva's contract.

The Portugal sensation has been a standout player for Benfica this season, and is considered to be one of the best young defenders in the world. While Benfica are known to be selling club, they do not sell their players without a premium price-tag. As one of Europe's wealthy clubs, Bayern Munich are not strangers to paying over the odds for the players they like.

There is still an element of the unknown as the Bavarian side prepare for next season. Thomas Tuchel will not be the Bayern Munich manager next season and they could be heading into 2024/25 in unknown territory by NOT defending their Bundesliga title. Of course, time will tell in the latter regard.

Bayern Munich have an excellent set of defensive options. Tuchel has understandably opted for a centre-back pairing of Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-Jae this season, but it remains to be seen who the next manager prefers in their defensive setup.

To cut a long story short, Antonio Silva has what it takes to compete for a place in the Bayern Munich lineup. He is an elite ball-playing CB with his whole future ahead of him. To cost €100m at 20 years old as a defender tells you everything you need to know about Silva.
