Bayern Munich have endured success and disappointment during the ongoing summer transfer window. They have ticked the box of raising funds by getting adequate fees for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. On the other hand, Bayern missed out on their top attacking targets-Xavi Simons and Désiré Doué.

The Bavarian club has not handled the negotiations to sign Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen in the best possible way. Tah had agreed personal terms with Bayern, but a move to Munich is looking unlikely at this stage.

Bayern had reportedly agreed a fee worth €25 million fixed and €5 million in bonuses for Jonathan Tah. However, the club chiefs at Die Roten are undecided about going ahead with the signing of the German defender.

Bayer Leverkusen had set a deadline for the transfer of Tah. Bayern allowed the deadline to pass last week, but Leverkusen remained open to sell the German defender. However, tensions have increased between both clubs during negotiations for Tah. While talking to Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro came hard on Bayern’s director of sport, Max Eberl.

"I don't think much of Max Eberl, absolutely nothing! And I wouldn't negotiate with him."

Kicker and Sky Sports in Germany have given more context to the situation. After reaching a verbal agreement over the transfer fee, Bayern are now looking to get Tah for a cheaper fee. Carro quickly apologized for his words against Eberl, but it certainly looks like there is a lot of tension between the two clubs with the way negotiations for Tah have panned out.

Max Eberl has endured difficult start at Bayern Munich

After several years of speculation, Bayern finally managed to bring Max Eberl to the club earlier this year. However, the start to life as Bayern chief has been brutal for Eberl. The search for a new head coach was chaotic, which saw Die Roten appoint Vincent Kompany. The Belgian coach was initially not part of the top five options Bayern pursued to replace Thomas Tuchel.

The transfer window started on a good note for Eberl and Bayern. They wrapped up signings of Hiroki Ito, Joao Palhinha, and Michael Olise before the start of the pre-season training. However, missing out on Simons and Doué leaves a bitter taste. They are unlikely to replace De Ligt in the squad. Eberl needs Kompany to succeed and Bayern to win silverware next season to relieve the pressure on him.
