4. Ryan Gravenberch (€40m)
Yep, more of a recent addition to the list is Ryan Gravenberch, who was sold to Liverpool in the 2023 summer transfer window. After much speculation about where the Dutch international would end up, it was Jurgen Klopp who brought Gravenberch to the Anfield Stadium for a fee of €40m, paid to Bayern Munich.
It was a sale which Bayern Munich would gladly sanction. While Gravenberch was showing plenty of signs of life and the potential to become a world-class midfielder, Bayern could not commit to giving the midfielder the game-time necessary to develop. Given the overload of talent in the squad, Gravenberch became surplus to requirements.
Having only spent a year at Bayern Munich, they cashed in on the midfielder while they still could. Gravenberch has now been at three of the best clubs in Europe - Ajax, Bayern Munich and Liverpool. As of May 2024, he has picked up three Eredivisie titles and the Bundesliga along the way.
