Positives of Hinrunde

Some of the football has been absolutely scintillating. So far Bayern have created 81 big chances in the Bundesliga, 17 more than any other team. Their 53 goals is 12 more than any other side too.

This is whilst conceding 13 goals in the process, eight fewer than any other side. In 11 games since the 3-3 draw at Frankfurt, they have conceded just six goals. The defensive tweaks have clearly paid off so far.

So far, Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies look like different players compared to last year. Both have been crucial to the attractive style of play Kompany wants to implement. Let’s hope they both sign those contract extensions.

We have seen Musiala’s goalscoring go up another level. Last season, he scored 10 league goals in 1766 minutes. This campaign, he has already scored nine goals in 1019 minutes of action.

Pretty safe to say that Olise has been a successful signing so far. If he had not been signed, the winger situation would look absolutely dire, if it isn’t already. The Frenchman is incredibly creative, links up well with his full-back, and has an eye for goal.

To date, Kim and Upamecano have been superb in the heart of defense. They have to cover so much space when defending but are both superb ground eaters. The only worry is that Kim has been playing through injury, but he did get rest in the win over Hoffenheim.
