The last three years have been nothing but straightforward for Bayern Munich on and off the pitch. The upheaval at the board level saw Christoph Freund arrive as sporting director and Max Eberl finally making a move to Bayern as director of sport after years of speculation.

Eberl had a mixed two years in his tenure. His first big task was finding a successor to Thomas Tuchel. Bayern missed out on several first-choice options. Eberl eventually went ahead by hiring Vincent Kompany as the new head coach of Bayern.

The Belgian head coach hit the ground running at Die Roten, guiding the club to a Bundesliga title. Eberl has also done well with several transfers like Michael Olise, Luis Diaz, and Jonathan Tah.

Apart from enjoying success with the appointment of Kompany and transfers, Eberl has also been subject to intense criticism regarding the way contract negotiations were handled and missing out on players like Florian Wirtz.

Despite the odd criticism regarding his tenure, Bild (via iMiaSanMia) is reporting that all signs are pointing towards a new contract for Max Eberl. His current deal is set to expire in 2027. With two board meetings scheduled in November and August, a final decision regarding Eberl will be made by the end of 2026.

Eberl is also content with life at Bayern. He will certainly welcome the opportunity to extend his stay at the club.

Eberl can boost chances of new contract with strong summer

Bayern have been one of the best teams in Europe this season. They have been prolific in the final third, blowing teams away in all competitions. Die Roten have suffered only two defeats this season until now.

The credit goes to Kompany and players since the summer transfer window was far from ideal for the Bavarian club. Max Eberl and Christoph Freund missed out on several players. They had to pay a premium to sign Luis Diaz. Even though signings hit the ground running for Bayern, the summer transfer window could have been handled in a much more efficient way.

Eberl and team need to avoid last summer’s mistakes. A much more organized transfer window during a World Cup will further boost his chances of getting a new contract. Die Roten are well placed to win multiple trophies this season. If they end up winning the treble, Eberl’s case for a new contract will be further strengthened.
