Bayern's 2-2 Champions League draw with Arsenal was filled with a number of positives and negatives. The positives: Harry Kane looks back to his very best form at the perfect time, Alphonso Davies playing at left-wing worked like a dream, and the Bischof-Pavlovic midfield looks promising for many years to come.
However, the positives are overshadowed by one very big negative: the injury to Luis Diaz. The Colombian limped off after playing just 20 minutes, with his injury looking very concerning for Bayern and Vincent Kompany. The club is hoping the attacker won't be out for too long, but unfortunately, it looks like that won't be the case.
As being reported by Plettigoal on X, Luis Diaz could be sidelined for 4-6 weeks after suffering a small muscular tear in his left thigh in Bayern's Champions League match against Arsenal. The Colombian came on in the 68th minute, only to go off injured right before the full-time whistle, adding yet another injury to Bayern's attack, one they cannot afford right now.
Luis Diaz's injury comes at the worst possible time for Bayern
As mentioned earlier, Diaz is expected to miss between 4-6 weeks, meaning he will be absent for a number of key upcoming matches for Bayern, including games against Freiburg, Borussia Dortmund, a Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid, as well as the November international break for Colombia. Depending on how his recovery goes, he could also be a doubt for games against Koln, Lille, and HSV after the international break.
The 29-year-old struggled somewhat with injuries during his time at Liverpool, missing a total of 35 games; however, this is the first injury he has had since his arrival at Bayern last season. After his slow start to the season, Diaz finally started to find his rhythm, and just like that, it has been brought to a screeching halt, leaving Vincent Kompany's attack down another crucial player.
Diaz now joins Jamal Musiala on the sidelines as the German is still not recovered from his injury suffered during the latest international break, leaving the manager in a tough situation. Kompany's squad was already thin, but now adding Diaz's lengthy injury to the mix could be a huge problem for Bayern with their upcoming fixture list.
Kompany will most likely call on Serge Gnabry to fill Diaz's role on the left-wing, however, Alphonso Davies may have a strong case that he should be the starter after his lights-out performance on the left-wing against Arsenal. How exactly Kompany will fill his absence remains unknown, but for Bayern, they better hope the manager can figure it out fast to avoid dropping more crucial points not just in the Bundesliga, but in the Champions League as well.
