Bayern Munich have enjoyed a lot of success when it comes to signing attacking players from the Premier League in the last three summers. Harry Kane and Michael Olise have been exceptional since joining Die Roten in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Luis Diaz has also hit the ground running for Bayern since arriving from Liverpool in the summer.

The consistent performances of Olise over the last 18 months have ensured that he has become one of the finest wingers in Europe. Courtesy of his performances, top clubs across Europe keep a close eye on him. The French forward has consistently been linked with Liverpool, with few reports suggesting that Die Roten have inserted a release clause in his contract.

Bayern chiefs have insisted on numerous occasions that there is no release clause inserted in Olise’s contract. According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg (via iMiaSanMia), Liverpool are not pursuing a move for Michael Olise. The Merseyside club admires the player, but they believe it is an unrealistic transfer to complete.

The defending Premier League champions are pursuing other options, with Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo emerging as a top target. The 25-year-old winger is attracting a lot of interest from several top clubs in Europe, but Bayern have no plans to pursue a move in January when he will be available for a release clause worth £65 million.

Bayern should look to extend Olise’s contract sooner rather than later

Olise is currently enjoying a very productive campaign with Bayern. There is no effect of second-season syndrome, where a player struggles to replicate a fantastic debut campaign. He currently has nine goals and ten assists in 18 games across all competitions.

In his debut season in Bavarian colours, Olise managed 20 goals and 23 assists in 55 games across all competitions. It is a sensational return for a wide player. His game has a perfect mix of productivity and creativity, making him one of the most complete wingers in Europe.

Along with being productive in the final third, Olise also works hard out of possession. The French forward has a contract until 2029 at Bayern, but the German club shouldn’t hesitate to extend his current deal. In an ideal scenario, they should look to offer him a long-term contract by the start of next season. They shouldn’t wait until he reaches the final two years of his current deal.

The 23-year-old forward was in sublime form against Freiburg (2 goals and 3 assists) on Saturday. The Bavarian faithful will hope to see a similar performance on his return to London on Wednesday as Bayern face Arsenal in the Champions League.
