Bayern Munich are not going to make new signings in January. The Bavarian club will make big moves in the summer. However, Bayern are likely to receive enquiries for the fringe players in the squad during the winter transfer window. Eric Dier is one of the players in the Bayern squad who could attract interest in January.

According to Corriero Dello Sport, Juventus are considering a move for Eric Dier in January. The Turin giants want to add more quality and experience to their defense. Dier fits the profile of the central defender Juventus will look to sign midway through the season.

The English defender will become a free agent at the end of the season. Bayern are unlikely to offer a new deal to Dier as they will look to sign at least one center-back next summer. It remains to be seen what fee Bayern will demand for Dier if the Italian club enquires about the English defender.

Dier has struggled for game time under Vincent Kompany. The Belgian coach has relied on the center-back pairing of Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae this season. Dier had to be content with minutes from the bench. His first start of the campaign came against Mainz in DFB Pokal at the end of October.

The return of Hiroki Ito from a foot injury will further reduce Dier’s game time in Munich. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Dier looks for a transfer away from Munich when the transfer window opens in January.

Dier wouldn’t shy away from opportunity to join Juventus

The 30-year-old defender has not been afraid about moving to different leagues throughout his career. He already has the experience of playing in Portugal, England, and Germany. If Juventus can offer him an adequate amount of game time, Dier certainly consider a move to Turin in January. The Italian league will also complement Dier’s strengths in central defense.

From Bayern’s perspective, they will be left short in central defense midway through the season if Dier joins Juventus. However, they have several players in the squad who can do a job in central defense if Kim Min-jae, Upamecano, and Hiroki Ito are out injured. Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich, and Josip Stanišić can play in the heart of defense.

Dier will have several offers from the Premier League at the end of the season, with three clubs reportedly showing interest in him. However, a move to Juventus will present him with an opportunity to play in a different league and compete for trophies. It will be a no-brainer for him if Juventus comes knocking on the door in January.
