Bayern Munich delivered a statement performance on matchday one of the Bundesliga as they clinched a comfortable 6-0 win against RB Leipzig at Allianz Arena on Friday. The Bavarian club was relentless with their pressing and showed ruthlessness in the box to get all three points.

From a defensive perspective, Bayern still need to improve as they conceded a few dangerous chances to visitors. On any other day, those chances could be converted by the opposition.

The Bavarian faithful will have nothing to complain about the attack. All four attacking players combined well throughout the game. The full-backs and midfield also supported the attack brilliantly, giving zero breathing space to RB Leipzig in their half.

Serge Gnabry was not on the scoresheet against Leipzig on Friday. However, he was one of the best players on the pitch. The German forward caused all kinds of problems for RB Leipzig while playing in the number ten role. He had a shot that hit the frame of the goal. From a creative point of view, Gnabry provided two assists in the game.

Even though Gnabry didn’t get the man of the match award, his performance was well-received in the dressing room. While talking to Bild, Kimmich spoke glowingly about the performance of Serge Gnabry.

"When we went into the dressing room at halftime, I already told him that he was playing exceptionally well. He made incredibly good decisions and was very dynamic. That was an outstanding performance."

Gnabry set to play crucial role for Bayern this season

The 30-year-old forward has enjoyed a good start to the season. He delivered a solid performance against VfB Stuttgart in the Super Cup before his stellar display against RB Leipzig on Friday.

Gnabry’s future has been subject to speculation over the last two seasons. He was one of the prime candidates to leave Bayern last summer, but he decided to stay in Munich. Gnabry had an average last season, racking up 16 goals and assists across all competitions.

The German winger will have a crucial role to play this season since he is the most experienced wide player in the squad after the departures of Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman. He will get consistent playing time this campaign to make an impact. The Bavarian faithful will hope Gnabry will stay fit and consistently deliver performances like he did against RB Leipzig on Friday.

Bayern have a lot of firepower in the attack. The quality of all attackers was on display against RB Leipzig. However, they certainly need some depth in this area of the squad. Bayern fans will hope Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are able to sign one forward before the end of the transfer window.
