João Palhinha is confident that he will get his chance at Bayern Munich soon despite his lack of playing time in recent weeks.

Hailed as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world when he joined Bayern Munich from Fulham in the summer, João Palhinha has struggled for playing time so far. The Portuguese international has only been on the pitch for a total of 154 minutes and has made six appearances across all competitions.

But Palhinha is still enjoying life in Munich, and remains confident that he will get his chance in the team in the coming weeks.

"I know that my time at FC Bayern will come. I'm working hard for it every day, I'm fighting to get my chance," Palhinha told SportBILD. "It's not about how it starts - it's about how it ends. I'm just concentrating on my work, on the training sessions. I am ready. Whether I play 90, 45 or just five minutes: I will fight for every moment."

Vincent Kompany has prefered to go with Aleksandar Pavlović and Joshua Kimmich in midfield so far, with Palhinha left in reserve. Despite his lack of playing time, the 29 year old retains a good relationship with the Bayern head coach.

"He is a trainer of the new generation. What distinguishes his work is that he has a good relationship with each and every one of us. That's important for the team spirit, nobody feels left alone. The coach always has an open ear for us. I'm very happy with him," Palhinha said.

João Palhinha will hope to showcase his quality for the Portugal national team in the coming days and stake a claim for more playing time in the Bayern Munich starting XI. With the Bavarians currently on a three-game winless run, Kompany may well look to shake things up in the coming games which could present Palhinha with the opportunity to play from the start.
