Bayern Munich traveled to Augsburg's WWK Arena for the second matchday of the Bundesliga season. Despite some late drama, the squad's routine away day ended in triumph, securing all three points. However, this game held an elevated level of importance for star striker Harry Kane, as it marked the Englishman's 100th competitive appearance for Bayern Munich in all competitions.
In true Harry Kane fashion, he celebrated his big day with another stellar performance. The striker put it on the plate for "The Chef" Serge Gnabry to head it in for the opening goal. It was a beautiful inswinging cross that found the gap between the opposition's defenders perfectly and in sync with the run from Gnabry.
Minutes after the break, Kane set up Michael Olise with a line-breaking through-ball. The Frenchman beat a defender and slotted it home, completing Harry Kane's second assist of the game. The English captain was amazing throughout the entire game. He could have easily had more assists and maybe even a goal for himself had his teammates been more clinical in the final third.
Not only contributing to the attack, Kane regularly tracked back, sometimes as low as the center-back duo of Upamecano and Tah, to help the defense. Number 9 on his back, but he was playing more like a number 10 the way he dropped down, delivered passes up the field, and broke the press. The Augsburg game summed up the Harry Kane experience for Bayern fans: he just does everything so well.
Kane's numbers at Bayern are exceptional
Since joining the Bavarian side in the 2023 summer transfer window with a €95 million fee, Harry Kane has filled the striker-sized hole in Bayern Munich's system after Robert Lewandowski's departure. Nearly nine figures for a striker over the age of 30 is a hefty price, but looking at what the former Tottenham striker has done for Bayern makes it worth it. In his 100 games, Harry Kane bagged 91 goals and assisted his teammates 28 times. Nearly 1.2 goal contributions per game is an insane statistic. These numbers already speak volumes, but his impact goes further into defensive contributions and playmaking ability.
He is the man of iconic moments as well. The halfway-line goal against Darmstadt, the Bundesliga logo goal against Augsburg, and the most recent hat-trick against RB Leipzig, to name a few. Harry Kane just loves to show up in big moments, when Bayern needs him the most.
Two years and 100 games were enough for Harry Kane to etch his name in Bayern's record book. Coming to the Allianz Arena like a hurricane, he wipes away every record and every opponent. Now it's time to look into the future with more goals, assists, and trophies, which he is no longer a stranger to. Harry Edward Kane, take a bow!
