Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski are both at the top of their games, but who will be the more efficient and prolific of the two come the end of this season?

My Prediction

These two have done it all so far this season, putting up ridiculous numbers. Robert Lewandoswki, a personal favorite player of mine, has continued to be as prolific for FC Barcelona as he was for the great Bayern Munich. Harry Kane, incredibly, has fit into the Bundesliga style of play with ease and is imposing his will on defenses all across Europe. Both of these men are THE standouts in their leagues, and have been turning heads since the first whistle was blown just a mere two and a half months ago.

Using the statistics so far this campaign, you could certainly ascertain that Harry Kane is off to the better start, holding a higher goal contribution per game over the course of fewer games by nearly 0.4 contributions. The comparison is that Lewandowski has two more goals so far, but Kane has seven more assists, which changes the narrative slightly. My one qualm with the numbers is that Lewandowski--or as Thomas Müller called him: "Lewangoalski"--loves a hattrick or three in a season. Harry Kane isn't shy to flirt with three or more goals in a game either, however, which puts me at odds with trying to decipher which one of these players will end teh season with more goals. We have seen it time and time again, these two competing for bigger numbers that will shock the viewing audience.

Regardless, my prediction is more based on team play than individual ability. Lewandowski is quite arguably one of the greatest strikers to ever grace the sport, but FC Barcelona may not rely on him as much by the end of this season as they do now, with Raphinha on an absolute tear and the young Lamine Yamal coming into his own.

Kane, nevertheless, is the focal point for everything Bayern Munich do and will continue to be by the end of this campaign. He has the supporting cast of the extremely speedy Leroy Sané, the crafty Serge Gnabry and Michael Olise, and the brilliant youngster Jamal Musiala, all of whom look first to get Kane the ball. Therefore, I am predicting that Kane will edge Lewandowski for goal contributions this year. Although, with as good as these two are, I wouldn't be surprised if it goes either way.
