Bayern Munich have one of the deadliest attacks in Europe this season. Luis Diaz has hit the ground running since arriving from Liverpool, while Serge Gnabry has gotten back to his best under Vincent Kompany this campaign. Along with this duo, Michael Olise and Harry Kane have continued their excellent form from last season to make them an irresistible quartet in the final third.
Harry Kane has done the bulk of the scoring for Die Roten with 24 goals in 17 games across all competitions. His numbers have been outstanding ever since he arrived at Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.
Considering the change of the role in the team, Kane’s output looks even more impressive. The English striker is not just a goalscorer for Bayern this season. He has operated as a number ten, dropping deep and creating chances for his teammates in the absence of Jamal Musiala. Kane has been exceptional defensively, winning duels and initiating moves from the deep.
Ahead of the away game against Arsenal on Wednesday, Kane opens up about the positional change at Bayern this season. The English striker told AFP that he is playing some of the best football of his career.
"I know I'm not just a goal-scorer. I can impact the team with passing, one-on-one situations, and taking the pressure off the team. This is the most I've enjoyed my football because I'm just involved more. I love the way we play. A really aggressive style, no fear. I love tackling, I love helping the team out and blocking shots and all that part of it as well."Harry Kane
Musiala has been the primary number ten for Bayern over the last few seasons. The German star suffered a serious injury during the Club World Cup in the summer. He is expected to return in the second half of the season. Since Die Roten will slowly ease him into action, Kane will have to play in this new role for at least the next couple of months.
Kane dismisses reports linking him to FC Barcelona
After showing incredible consistency for Bayern over the last two and a half seasons, there is bound to be interest in Kane from top clubs in Europe. He has been linked with a return to the Premier League, while the recent reports in Spain have suggested that Barcelona have identified him as a target to replace former Bayern star Robert Lewandowski.
However, Kane has dismissed reports linking him to the Spanish club. While talking to Bild, Kane admitted that there have been no talks with Barcelona, and he remains firmly focused on Bayern. The English striker also insisted that he has no plans to leave Munich in the summer.
The English star has a release clause in his contract. Bayern have no plans to part ways with him anytime soon. The record Bundesliga champions are expected to open contract talks with Kane later this season. From a sporting point of view, Kane has the ideal environment at Bayern to add more trophies to his cabinet.
